The Boston crash took the life of a 53-year-old Roxbury man.
LUDLOW - State police, continuing to probe a wrong-way crash that claimed two lives on the Massachusetts Turnpike Friday night, responded to yet another fatal wrong-way crash in Boston Sunday morning.
The Boston crash, which involved three vehicles, was reported about 5:35 a.m. on the northbound side of Interstate 93, at the entrance to the Tip O’Neill tunnel.
In both the Ludlow and Boston crashes, the wrong-way drivers were killed, state police said.
State police said their investigation into the Ludlow crash indicates Clarence Lux, 84, of New Britain, Conn., had a medical condition that might have contributed to the crash.
State police on Saturday identified Lux as the wrong-way driver. Lux and Robert Magee, 28, of West Bridgewater, were killed when their vehicles collided on the Massachusetts Turnpike, near Exit 6, at 8:30 p.m. on Friday.
State police said preliminary evidence indicates that Lux, while traveling west, suddenly took a U-turn and began driving east in the westbound lanes, causing one vehicle behind him to take immediate evasive actions. State police said they believe Lux struck Magee’s vehicle shortly thereafter.
State police identified the victims in the Boston crash as are Idefonso Barros, 53, of Roxbury, who was fatally injured, and Jennifer Green, 45, of Chelmsford, and who was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Preliminary evidence indicates that Barros, driving a 1999 Dodge Dakota, was traveling south on the northbound side of Interstate 93 when he collided head-on with a 2006 Nissan Pathfinder driven by Green.
The operator of the third vehicle, driving a 2007 Ford Edge, was uninjured in the crash. State police have not yet identified that driver.
Both crashes are being investigated by State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Section and the State Police Crime Scene Services Section.
