The motorist suffered minor injuries.
LUDLOW -- A motorist suffered minor injuries Tuesday morning after his vehicle crashed into a utility pole on Chapin Street.
Fire Capt. John Moll said the crash brought power lines down onto the vehicle and the motorist remained in place for about 20 minutes until personnel from Western Massachusetts Electric Co. could de-energize the lines.
That section of Chapin Street remained closed early Tuesday afternoon as WMECO personnel worked to replace the pole. The accident occurred near 634 Chapin St. at about 10:30 a.m., Moll said.
A number of area residents lost power for a time, officials said. Power has since largely been restored, according to an outage map on WMECo's website.
