Police urge residents to keep an eye out for suspicious behavior in their neighborhoods.

LUDLOW -- Police, reporting an upsurge in the theft of copper pipes from homes that are up for sale and appear to be unoccupied, urge residents to keep an eye on such properties in their neighborhoods.

Lt. Paul Madera said the thefts, which began this summer, have picked up and three have been reported over the last several weeks.

“We could use the people’s help on this,” Madera said. “If you see suspicious activity take down a plate number and contact the police. If you see somebody loading up a car with pipe from the house, you should be calling the police.”

Police can be reached at (413) 583-8305.
