AGAWAM
"No we’re not considering it. Halloween is October 31," Agawam Mayor Richard Cohen said of postponing the holiday. "The children in town with the guidance of the parents or guardians will certainly be allowed to trick-or-treat tomorrow evening."
CHICOPEE
Chicopee issued an alert on its city website, saying "Trick or Treating will be Wednesday, October 31st; there is no designated time frame."
GREENFIELD
Greenfield issued an update on trick-or-treating, their rag shag parade and costume contest on its website too. It reads: "UPDATE 10/30/12 11:57am An update on Halloween Events: The Rag Shag Parade as well as trick-or-treating around town will happen as scheduled for Halloween Night, Wednesday, October 31st! We hope to see everyone downtown!"
HOLYOKE
Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse issued this statement on the city's website: "Halloween trick-or-treating will be postponed until Saturday, November 3. It will be raining the evening of October 31, 2012 and there may still be limbs and debris around from Hurricane Sandy. There will be good weather on Saturday and it's not a school night for kids. We'll still be having trick-or-treating on Halloween from 10AM-4:30PM at City Hall, so residents are encouraged to bring their kids! Thank you for your understanding."
MONSON
Monson issued this statement on its website about postponing trick-or-treating and the Rotary Club parade: "Because of the pending storm, the decision was made today that Halloween "trick or treat" and the Rotary Club parade is being postponed to Sunday, November 4, 2012 from 3:00 to 5:00 PM, with the parade starting at 5:00. There will be no "trick or treat" or parade on Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Residents are thanked in advance for their cooperation in this postponement."
NORTHAMPTON
Northampton has no plans to postpone its rag shag parade in Florence or trick-or-treating downtown.
PALMER
Palmer is also holding its trick-or-treating, parades and "trunk-or-treating" as scheduled.
Easthampton and Ware held their Halloween festivities earlier this month.
The following towns either are not postponing Halloween festivities or were not planning to issue a decision on trick-or-treating: Hadley, Ludlow, South Hadley, Southampton, Southwick, Springfield, Westfield and Wilbraham.
